Coming back for another (hopefully simpler and shorter) project.
Some years ago ( probably 5-6) I bought online one of the Nihilus hilts made by Holocron on Etsy back in the day. The hilt was installed with I do not know precisely what, but the LED in particular does not look good, it seems to be a single red dye.
As for the other TOPIC (shameless plug), I will list the material and items I used to build this saber and where I got them from.
Hilt : Nihilus Saber by Holocron
1" OD Heatsink Module For Single and Tri LED - The Saber Armory
GOTH-3D All-In-One 1.10″ OD Variant 1 FDM ECO Chassis - The Saber Armory
Main LED : Tri Cree XPE-2 LED DR/DR/G - The Saber Armory
Nano doesn’t support an auxiliary switch so that should work great.
I don’t have any experience with doing an RGB with a Nano so your either going to have to get someone else’s input or just read the manual. I’m sure whatever Nano supports will work great.
My two favorite weathering techniques are A-14 also known as aluminum black. The other is just flat black spray paint and sand parts off or using a brush on technique and combination of sandpaper or steel wool.

Some other guys might be of more help but if your positive on your wiring i would get some good glasses and look for a short. It could be just a tiny ammount of solder. Also check the charge port wiring.
If the boards getting really hot then it could well be fried, I'd say likely the recharge socket is wired wrong or the pos/neg are touching on the board. Did you wire the recharge socket with a kill key in place when soldering to the battery and theboard? Also was the sd card removed from the board? It's very important to do that.
ARKM: Just a note, you can edit and even delete your own shouts in the Shoutbox On a PC, you can move the mouse just to the left of the timestamp of your shout and the word "edit" will appear. If you click on that, you can edit your shout.

ARKM: To delete one of your own shouts, you move the mouse to the right of the timestamp and an "X" will appear (or it may always show whether your mouse pointer is there or not). Click on that to delete your shout.

ARKM: On a cell phone, if you change the website to "Desktop site" (for android based phones anyways) you will see the X already and to edit the shout, just press down on the screen when the shout timestamp is to get the word "edit" to appear.
