Personally, I'm slacking on that. Some stencils in hand for the hilts I have here to do for people but I'm going back and forth with Scott about what he recommends for what sections. I think Maybe Haliwax has gotten to work on his? Can’t wait to see how yours and Haliwax looks. Someone in the Facebook groups recently just posted his weathered v2 Was that the same one a few people said the rings were too thick? It’s going to be a while before I get to weathering mine. I’ve got the stencils but need to decide whether to tackle it myself or have someone a bit more... eh experienced to do it for me. I do love this hilt. A lot.

Yeah I got my stencils too, I'm just waiting on my roman props clamp and weathering chemicals before I begin. Or I might hold off on weathering until some of the pros on here finish theirs and share some of their techniques. I know Haliwax has great tutorial videos online as well.

My V2 just turned up and it's BEAUTIFUL!! Of course it was the one morning I was out for and the postman decided to just leave the package at my front door! So glad it didn't take a walk! Looking forward to assembling it including the extra pieces sourced from Romans and Sloth though apart from the weathering to be done I can see there's potentially a few things to fix / tweak and wondered what everyone's thoughts are on them? 1. Spinning emitter stuck firm (won't spin at all). I saw a video by Chris Goodman where his was sticking a bit as well and just used some steel wool and lubricant to get it to spin freely. See at 7:10 Would this be considered the best way to resolve such an issue? I wouldn't have thought to use steel wool to remove a slight bit of material or smoothen it up I guess is what I'm saying. 2. There are some obvious straight machining marks on the flat ends of both pommels. Would people advise to leave this as is for accuracy to the prop or try to remove them for a mark free finish? If cleaning it up, what's the best way to go about doing that? 3. I noticed the broken blade chunk to go in the emitter nipple is already starting to rust. I plan to let the steel parts surface rust a bit to help with the weathering but what are the options for temporarily and also permanently halting the rusting process? I understand oil and clear paint/lacquer but just not aware of any specifics that work best for sabers you plan to display and handle on the odd occasion. Those are not machine marks, I spent months making sure each part was as perfect as humanly possible. Its from Abrading, it was a more uniform finish, that inevitably will be weathered and painted and damaged like the screen used prop. I think we covered the tiny burr on the emitter inside that made the part hang up a little. easy fix the steel bung is made from steel, it will rust because that is what steel will do when it oxidizes( its a accuracy thing) Hi SH, meant to reply to this a while back and thought I still should as I feel you took my comments the wrong way. I apologise if you thought I was having a go at the quality, finish and sheer time and effort put into preparing these beauties. I'm still learning a lot about the specifics of all the saber props and custom made sabers themselves, especially in the case where you get to put the finishing touches on them yourself and I probably just framed my questions in the wrong way. Thanks for your reply which clears up most of it for me. So essentially the abrading is just to give a beginning uniform finish over which to apply your own weathering, the abraded finish isn't part of the prop accuracy itself and doesn't need to be left visible? I should have the spinning emitter fix covered, cheers to you and halliwax for that and I understand the steel bung will rust, my question was mainly just the best way to halt the process once it gets to where I want it. Halliwax has also covered another way for that so I'm all good My stencils and tape adapter arrived recently so it's about time to get it all out and start assembling and figuring out how to paint and weather this peace of art (I'm a noob so lots of research and questions are about to start ) Thanks again for doing this amazing run and I can't wait to see others start posting up their completed hilts

Now that's a cool idea, to bring a Saber with you to Galaxy's Edge. The backdrop looks really great!!

Just saw that a couple people were asking about people who have recently completed the weathering on their V2's. With some assistance from Halliwax's tutorials on the RPF, here is a couple snap shots I took on my iPhone the other night at Galaxy's Edge west. I didn't ding the hilt or dent the emitter just because I didn't want to and I've yet to add the gaff tape, but everything else was followed accordingly. Hoping to take some proper professional photos when I get a chance.

Scottjua has mentioned on his patreon in the next couple of days he’s releasing a new video series. he is now going to do interviews with people in the prop community. I’ve been told his first guest is a Mr Brandon Alinger!
If anything now is the time to become a second tier patron, can’t wait to see this new series of Scott’s!

New video on Patreon tonight. Brandon Alinger from the Prop Store chats about his prop journey and shows off his screen used ROTJ E11. We also talk about the V2 construction, history, and details a bit. Support the effort to do more of this type of thing with better quality as we move forward here: www.patreon.com/cruciblecustomprops
