Moving on to this build. I have a few new ideas for this build so I'm excite to get it underway. I've always like this hilt so I picked up as soon as KR released. I am using Goth's chassis, I know he has an Aux button solution planned but after dissecting and thinking it through I've come up with my own which very well may end up being similar as there's not many spots that make sense (more to come on that). While I know you can go 1 button, with all of the new features and those to come I need the Aux as well. I'm also giving Shtok's Neopixel connectors a go for the first time. I've always liked the idea and they seem pretty straightforward (so far). I'll be installing a Proffieboard V2.2 into this one and I already have some new style ideas lined up. It will probably be chopped up but hoping it's not a long build, finding time will be the trick as my schedule has been hectic of late.

I got the Aux button sorted, it took a little "MacGyvering" but it worked well enough that I'm happy with it. I have the Aux button on the underside, there was enough space between the chassis parts in the groove section to handle so it just made sense. To get the base for the switch holder I actually just trimmed the end off the speaker holder, then after a bit of trial and error I trimmed a tactile switch holder and combined the two parts to create a support for the switch. I'm using some double sided tape to keep everything in place but to be able to remove easily if needed. Now the switch is supported fully and there's still space to run the wires as needed. To get it in place it's 3 steps, first manuevering the switch into place, then the white switch holder is put in place, then the black base was fit in last. Definitely a tedious process but it worked. First I test fit everything, then I wired it up and installed. For the main switch I ended up needing the low profile tactile switch, the taller would not work with the plunger for the main button. Of course, once i got it installed I just left it in place so no pics. I also made another change, after thinking about usage I needed easier access to the kill switch than the recharge port so I did away with the recharge port and put a better kill switch in it's place so it can easily be accessed by unscrewing the pommel. I will directly recharge the battery using the mini connector inside the cut out area of the ribbed section. It's simple enough to access to update the board and recharge and I'll be using the kill switch more frequently so it was just more logical. I just enlarged the recharge port opening to accommodate and it fit like it was made for it. I wired up and installed the speaker as well. And finally I wired up the hilt side connector and mounted it in the Goth holder. I was playing with routing the wires, it's a snug fit with the battery and I was able to get it in without pinching the wires at all so I just left it, so the top portion is nearly done. Next up will be wiring up the board, but it was getting late so rather than try to work while I was tired I'll tackle that another night.

Sneak Peek - New Lockup Effect "Cut" for ProffieOS 3.0 Fork
Based on the EP I scene with Qui Gon Jinn cutting through the blast doors I have created a new Lockup state I am calling "Cut". It's a combination of Drag and Stab and is separate new effect.
This is an early "proof of concept" as I'll be working with Matt to get this into the fork update. Now there will be 4 lockup states; Localized Lockup for blade-to-blade, Drag for dragging the saber and "shallow" cuts, Force Lightning Lockup "Block" for blocking force lightning attacks and now "Cut" for deeper continuous cutting through objects. And utilizing all of the Transition Effects in 3.9 I've added some basic animations and a heating up effect, although these are still in the "rough" form for testing.
A big thanks to Jesse Kirkbride for providing new separate sounds for Force Lightning Lockup and Cut, in the fork update there will be support for separate sounds for each of these states to really enhance the effects and Jesse was kind enough to provide some great files for me to test with. There is still a lot to do and these aren't final versions of the effects or transitions but I wanted to share now that I have my KR Sabers Qui Gon all done, seeing as it was the inspiration.
More to come...
