Guys we just got back from a trip to Orlando. I can’t stress or describe just how AWESOME the experience was.
The VOID at Disney springs was incredible. Your turn into a stormtrooper and sneak into a hidden base on mustafar to steel an Imperial secret. You have to locate blasters, solve puzzles, open doors. It was very realistic and amazing. Highly recommended. It wasn’t perfect but it was worth the $34 and something we will try again.
Star Wars Galaxy’s Edge at Hollywood Studios was just as awesome. Build a droid was fun. We skipped the lightsaber build because it was too expensive for a fat, cheap saber. Ogas Cantina was was a fun experience with bright colorful drinks like blue milk, and bubbling drinks with exotic things like popping pearls. Snacks were minimal but fun too. We tried Oga’s delight and it was fun. Lots of atmosphere in the bar with a droid DJ, very active bartender and a hyper drive that runs about as good as the one on the falcon.
Smugglers run was fun. Go figure. I was a bit frustrated that as a pilot in real life I ended up as an engineer while a young girl about six piloted with her dad and drove us into asteroids, cave walls and buildings. 😩
But the best.....the payoff......Rise of the Resistance. We were lucky enough to score a boarding group and had a boarding time around 2:30. All I’ll say is the ride was amazing. If anyone is going, don’t peak at any of these events online. You want to go in for shock and awe.
If you’re in Orlando, these are not to be missed by Star Wars fans.
Our only gripe is that we wasted two days, one each at Epcot and Animal Kingdom. We should have done a second day at Galaxy's Edge.

One addition.
The coolest things to purchase at Galaxy’s Edge.
My kids have been saving their money all year in anticipation.
Jedi and Sith holocrons $50 Kyber crystals that change the voices of the holocron messages. They got Yoda, obiwan and Vader. $12.99/ea.
Build a droid $100
dejarik chess game $50
Sabacc cards and dice $19
Go early to Black Spire outpost and try to score a Batuu Spira credit. It’s a $100 gift card but it a nice hefty metal coin. It’s a really nice souvenir. They sell out fast so go straight there.
Lots of other cool things but not really worth the steep Disney markup.

Sounds awesome, Luke. We are headed there this Thursday for a week. Planning on at least 3 days at Hollywood Studios. I hadn't heard about the VOID, we will definitely check it out! How early did you show up to get your RotR boarding group? Thanks!

Here’s the lowdown for Rise.
Show around 6am at the turnstiles. We set our alarm for 4:45 am. Wife wasn’t too happy about day one of our vacation. 🤣 Hey! She wanted boys.
We hit the turnstiles around 6:30 after a magic band glitch.
Main Street opens at 6:30. Head up into the park as far as you can go. Make sure you have good cell service. Don’t use WiFi as everyone can bog it down. Be clear of structures.
Practice with the app so you know what buttons to press. Make sure you’re logged into the app.
They make a loud announcement at 7am.
When you hear the announcement click the button for join boarding group.
You have zero time for delay. People around us were shouting out they had boarding groups and our “join boarding group” button was grayed out for at least 20-30 seconds. If finally lit up and I scored group 59 around 7:01-7:02. It wasn’t a minute or two later that I heard a guy yell out he didn’t get one. Have your wife, friend etc try at the same time you do. There’s no room for error. The ride breaks down a lot. Our group should have gone in around noon and we ended up in around 2:30. That messed up our afternoon FP’s to Rockin, Ogas, and droid build. I went to cast members and they all assured me they would work with us if we missed our slot. We missed Ogas by about 30 mins and they squeezed us in. Our biggest issue was because of the delay we had to run several times from opposite ends fo the park to try to stay within our FP windows. My little guy was exhausted from walking. My iPhone said we walked 25,000 steps that day. 😳
It was stressful but the ride was FREAKING AWESOME!!!!!
GE is fun. It could have been so much better if it was a familiar place like Tattoine but it’s still fun. FO troops are always out somewhere, along with chewie and a very good looking Rey. The troopers are very interactive, stopping people in the streets and messing with them. When I was talking with the staff at Ogas about missing our slot they approached me and asked the girl if there was trouble, ie me. I told him I was 501st TK42119 and they had some fun with that. Wished I brought my trading card with me.
Enjoy. You’ll love it.
Smugglers runs 60-80 minutes or longer all day. We finally hit it when it briefly dipped to 45 mins.
If you find yourself at the back of the pack for smugs, go the opposite direction. There’s a huge morning rush. Like I said earlier, we saw the massive crowd and opted for TT and had no line. Make use of that crowd to hit a ride or two with no wait.

Also.....
I’d heard things were selling out fast so my kids made lists a few weeks out. We ran to TT first and had no line. Once the lines formed we ran to GE and hit the stores to get their items. Droid personality chips and accessories, holocrons and kyber crystals. We had it all sent back to our hotel and done by around 9:30. Our droid build was at 5:50 and things were still pretty well stocked. But the stores are very tiny and can get really crowded. I’d suggest googling the shops to see what you may want so you go in with a plan. Having three days you shouldn’t have a problem. We only had one day so we had to hit the ground running.
The only thing we didn’t get were the Spira credits.
Rydiddy got me a couple last fall so our boys got them for Christmas. We’d hoped to get them each an extra while we were down there.
A big thanks to rydiddy. We wouldn’t have gotten any if it wasn’t for you. 👍
