Correction: the prequels, had they been written and performed the way that Filoni saw them, would be genius. Trouble is, what we got just doesn't match up with his 'head canon.' We as viewers are left to make many logical and story jumps on our own and the whole thing is just a big mess. There's no question that the story he describes and the themes that he expounds on are beautiful and compelling. Problem is, those themes exist only in his head and helped him tell the stories he told in The Clone Wars, Rebels and Mandalorian. The products we got from Lucas are bereft of any sense of humanity, emotionality or even basic storytelling competence.

I have to add this. Whether you love or hate them, this is too damn funny/accurate.

I've watched the PT at least as many times as the OT what I love about them so much is in a way just what you said; they're told in such a way that is actually telling an incredible story that seeming gaps and pieces are filled every time i watch them. But they are there in such a way that they can be watched over and over and still gain a little something more from them every time I watch. I like them the same way I like Matrix Reloaded and Revolutions (infact) I think most people didn't care for those sequels because it left too "little" ambiguity what the story was "really" about (love it or hate it) which is why Disney ran as far away from them is fast as they could and IMHO ruined Star Wars

I agree with Mr Filoni. Only thing that has ever bothered me about them is the films feel flat and lifeless thanks to the overuse of green screen CGI and poor directing of the actors.
But hey, some people think the new trilogy have good story telling and add to the saga 😒
