LEGACY: IMPERIAL KNIGHT by Saber Baron Studios I have always been a fan of the Imperial Knights from the STAR WARS: LEGACY series. The red armor, uniform silver lightsabers, and devotion to the Emperor was always an intriguing concept to me. When I first started in this hobby, I discovered the brilliant work of Vader's Vault, and fell in love. When I saw their Imperial Knight, I fell in love all over again. I loved how they brought one of my favorite sabers to life in such a genuine way. As time went on, and I started becoming interested in the sounds of sabers, I always wanted someone to make a soundfont unique to this particular hilt, but no one ever came forward. Til now. This is my first font, and my tribute to such a beautiful saber. Like the Knights that inspired it, it is neither Jedi nor Sith, but something powerful and dynamic nonetheless. Its sounds were inspired by a number of sources to create a font that was synthetic and pure but with an electric energy and robust range. The Force sounds are a particular favorite of mine. I really wanted to create an effect that would mimic the sound of a saber being rendered temporarily useless by an Imperial Knights Cortosis Guantlet, and with a little luck (and lots of spitting, hair pulling, and curse words) I think I succeeded. This project would never have happened if not for the amazing work at the Vault, and I never would have ventured into this dimension of the hobby if not for the inspiration that saber gave me. But this soundfont certainly won't be my last. Today I am announcing the creation of Saber Baron Studios, a title I will use to showcase custom soundfonts and sabers going forward. Some of you may have noticed the LEGACY title attached to this font, and with good reason. I am currently working on a companion soundfont to this one from the same series, which will hopefully be available in the coming months. In the meantime, I hope you enjoy this demo of the font until it arrives on Saberfont.com. Thanks for looking! Legacy Imperial Knight - YouTubeEdit: Special thanks to our very own MACHINIMAX for beta testing this font for me, and generally mentoring me through the entire process. His help was invaluable, and I could never have done it without him. Thanks again, buddy!

hey Ty, that's a really cool font.. i like the static sound of it a lot! if i can note something to make it even better... at 0.22 (after the lockup?!) and right before the poweroff, you can notice a change in the hum, caused by the loop, i guess... you could maybe try to find a better mixing point to have a smoother transition... i mean, it does not sound bad and could also be interpretated as intended (maybe it is), just wanted to give my input... great first font!

Cool beans man . If you want to make an NEC version, just make a copy of the font files and keep them unmixed from the hum file.. and you're done It doesnt require any special attention like it used to so really its just renaming the files and plug and play ! Looking forward to hearing more

If you have the time to do this up for NEC boards... that would be sweet, as I'm sure that there would be many who would love to pick this up. Great job!!!

All I can say is soon. The folks at saberfont had a copy submitted to them in advance, but I believe that was right as they went on vacation. They will be wading through emails currently. I will keep you posted as soon as I hear anything back.

Hey Saber Baron, have you had any word on this? I've got both an IK and a kind if Dark IK build in mind, and would lose to have this font for them.

I live for unique sounding fonts...so with that said I look forward to the Nec version. Make sure to include force effects files with it. I always have a few fonts setup so that I can trigger them when I want too.

I always have a few fonts setup so that I can trigger them when I want too. Still working on a NEC version. The folder that I had for my original masters seems to have been lost, so I have to make re-make some of them from scratch. I will let you know as soon as it is recovered and submitted.

Woo, thats my saber! Can't wait to have it in my hands, and hear your awesome work on the font first-hand. I am green with envy, Deke. The Mark V platform is my favorite version of that saber, and the font sounded great on it. Top it off with the silver blade and it is basically right off the page. I hope you enjoy it. Something I suggest is renaming the force clash file to the Force1 file so you can get the 'cortosis gauntlet' effect. I worked really hard getting that one done right, and I really like the way it turned out!

Very.. Very nice I do like what you did with that font. I can actually tell some of the things you used to make certain sounds lol which is kinda cool. I use some of the same techniques in my Transform and Terraform fonts Very cool and even more so that VV did a demo for ya ! Kudos my man ! Link

I didn't realize that they sounded similar until I saw Tron's Jade Fire debut, then I felt bad. I didn't check out transform before because I usually don't shop for cross-genre fonts. "Don't cross the streams!" Lol. But seriously. Transform and Terraform are awesome fonts, and we are both self-taught font makers with open-source technology, so we can't be surprised when sometimes, techniques are used by two people. In the end, I think we both made some great and original fonts. Thanks for the compliment, Link. It means a lot coming from a pro like you.

Hey SB, LOL I was by no means trying to say that your font "sounds" like mine, but rather I "understand" some of the techniques and really can appreciate the creativity on a deeper level than a non font maker I think for your first font you hit a home run ! I know what you mean too about not crossing the streams LOL, I think when I did transform I was just wanting something different for a change and it turned out really popular haha. Thanks to for the compliments Im looking forward to anything you have coming out in the future Keep it up man!
