Hello Clones of the Republic! I just finished a Jedi General costume. While 99% of the time I plan on running around without a bucket, for a blast a jedi/trooper (nerf) event and I wanted to have a bucket so I didn't get hit in the eye or anything. My armor is ACA from terrell78 on ct.net So... since I am not doing a full on clone costume, I don't feel compelled for the kwdesigns, I was thinking of either: a rubies deluxe one piece helm I'm not sure it looks a bit ill proportioned. or modifying the hasbro voice changing helmet as it's proportions look a bit better. I'd love some input on the matter. I'm kind of stuck on which to do, but trying to get it done a con at the end of the month. Any help or suggestions would be very welcome. I'm aiming for this at least for the con so it looks kind of accurate for the time I am working on it. Thanks for any given input.

Of the two I like the look of the rubies, but I have not handled one before and can't speak for it's durability. FWIW, the rubies Jango I used to have was a decent bucket after a little work, if not a little small.

Was yours comfy inside? What sort of work did you have to do?

Hasbro uses one kind of weird plastic on about all their toys. Its a soft type of plastic which you can't sand properly and can't use plastic adhesive on.
Dunno about the Rubies one tho....

I was going to prime it, rough it up, bondo it, use gap filling primer and then fill in the odd spaces with foam, and then worbla over it.
The rubies.... the proportions look all weird. 15 $ and a little work fit within the line of my financial scheme.

The jango was a 2 piece so I had to bondo up the seam and put a darker visor in it.

There was a very impressive rework on the Hasbro I saw on Dented Helmet a long while back, sorry bro, I no longer have the link to that thread nor do I know the poster's name... or is it poser's name. I remember reading the same question about Rubies or this and the favored one there in the forum was the Hasbro.
I have not look into the adhesive I can use for this sort of Hasbro plastic but if and when I can. I would like to 'accurize' it. However, the one I saw was later cast in fiberglass which means the reworked Hasbro is still fragile because of the plastic bring not friendly to most glues. CA could work but I would use balsa dust to enhance it. Forget about baking soda! And the other is Stabili Express, a German made glue I uses exclusively for RC applications where strength of the bonding is required!

That's helpful, thanks. The ruby proportions look all wrong and I am going for minimal investment with maximum use of supplies I already have.
