I feel this needs to be pointed out: if you don’t like the new films, that’s perfectly fair. I’m not going to have that debate with you. You’re entitled to your opinion. But where is the logic in blaming Disney? Disney own the rights and pay the bills, that’s true. But it’s Lucasfilm and the people who worked under George Lucas that are still in creative control.
In another universe where George Lucas makes the sequel films and remains commander and chief, we can be certain that you wouldn’t like those either. Just look how much back lash he got for the prequels and how it’s widely agreed the best film is the one he was least involved with.
So, by all means, hate the movies. But please stop blaming Disney. It’s ignorant and it’s getting old.
Yoda, this is a very light-hearted thread with jokes galore. My joke was a nod towards those that don't like the way Luke was treated in TLJ and does not necessarily reflect my personal feelings about ANY of the movies (I enjoyed TLJ for the most part... SURPRISE!!!). Disney owns LucasFilm and that means that there are people at Disney that have the power to tell Kathleen Kennedy what she can and can't do at LucasFilm. Will all due respect, to think that they let her or the writers and directors have 100 percent complete control over the decisions she makes at LucasFilm regarding the multi-million dollar Star Wars movies is IMHO, naive. Even if you are right (and with the statements Rian Johnson has made about creative control, you just may very well be), I don't care. Too me it's just semantics and therefore unimportant. Why get bent out of shape over something like this?
I'm optimistic about this one. I'm not going to split hairs about the actor not being Harrison Ford -ish enough. As long as they don't chop off his nuts for the sake of P.C. ness, I'll be happy with it.
Remember, Han always shoots first, because Han is always in control of every situation, at least in his mind. And that goes for every situation, unless it's trying to win his son back over from the Dark side.
I really hope it's good it certainly has potential...
I honestly don't have a clue who's in charge of writing this one all that stuff. Rogue One was good (not great IMHO) TLJ to me was "so bad" that it brought TFA down a bunch with it for me.
I like Rebels, I like R1 it's definitely worth watching in a marathon in between ROTS and ANH but 7 & 8 are a skip for me... I would actually argue that (humbly and in good spirit) that it's been a travesty for me watching Disney ruin Star Wars and if this Solo movie is bad on top of it than OH MAMA!!! They need to just stop for me Star Wars ends at ROTJ
Everyone loves Han Solo. His scenes single handedly elevated TFA from meh to good.
This prequel Han Solo should be a slam dunk, so long as they don't emasculate him in favor of a couple of corny jokes. I don't think (hope) Richie Cunningham would do that to us.
That's why the original directors were fired because it was too slap stick in style. I'm glad Ron Howard swooped in to save this, but if any of the slap stick stuff lives on, I'm afraid we'll get some corny jokes in this one too.
