Like them or loath them, between George Lucas and Lucas Arts and their unnecessary medlin with perfection, it's highly unlikely we will ever just get a restored original version like the vhs release from 93.
Just waiting on Disney to start messing now as, they think theirs to many men, expect them to digitally incert females to males positions in the film hahaha.
But anyway enjoy the messing from the last 20 odd years.

The one change I love is the Biggs reunion scene. Before it, you wouldn't have known they were friends unless you caught Luke mentioning his name during supper at the homestead or like us mega fans, you probably had the storybook that had a picture of the "lost" scene with Luke and Biggs on Tatooine and you could connect the dots. I mean I would still want an unaltered version for history's sake but if I made my own R5 cut, Biggs stays  . |

I would add the cut scene at toshi's station back in too. No idea why George left it out. It slowed the pace of the movie, wasn’t a good intro for Luke and disrupted the boarding/escape scene. If you read the many articles about Marcia Lucas it talks about several of these decisions. |

I would add the cut scene at toshi's station back in too. No idea why George left it out. It slowed the pace of the movie, wasn’t a good intro for Luke and disrupted the boarding/escape scene. If you read the many articles about Marcia Lucas it talks about several of these decisions. I disagree with his decision then, it fit perfectly and showed Luke did have friends and liked to have a drink, by the end of the film the audience would of seen a bigger change in his personality and development. After all the other rubbish he added to the film it would of been more beneficial. |

Ya know, I never minded adding scenes and revamping cut scenes like adding Jaba and stuff like that despite that a lot of it doesn't look natural... in my mind more was better, but making Han not shoot 1st and changing music and stuff was STUPID!
The original, originals should be available though.

Ya know, I never minded adding scenes and revamping cut scenes like adding Jaba and stuff like that despite that a lot of it doesn't look natural... in my mind more was better, but making Han not shoot 1st and changing music and stuff was STUPID! The original, originals should be available though. How do you feel about Adywan’s revisited versions? He altered quite a lot in ANH but showed more restraint with TESB. Personally, I feel he fixed a lot of stuff that should have been fixed with the SE rather than adding crap like a bolder for Artoo to hide behind or all that Mos Eisley stuff. None of it makes a difference. It’s all superfluous apart from, as you say, Han not shooting first, which changes the character. I don’t think they will ever be released. LFL under Disney have shown little concern for what fans may want. They do, however, like our money. |
